The Sarah Allen Missionary Society is sponsoring a free writing clinic for sixth, seventh, and eighth graders. The Writing Wizards Enrichment Clinic offers young writers an opportunity to enhance their writing skills, gain grammar proficiency, and write with clarity and confidence. Classes will be held at Metropolitan on second and fourth Saturdays, 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., beginning January 14, 2012 through June 9, 2012. Dear Metropolitan AME Youth (Parents and Youth Advisors);

A. YOUTH MEETING

The Metropolian AME Church Youth Ministry, on Sunday, November 20, 2011, immediately following Sunday School, will hold a meeting of ALL YOUTH, AGES 5-18, (flyer attached) to discuss program and activities youth would like to see at Metropolitan.

This is an excellent opportunity for you to inform the church of things of interest to you!

Please be sure to attend this very important meeting.

B. HOMECOMING 9:00 a.m. WORSHIP SERVICE

The church will have ONE Worship Service on Sunday, November 20, 2011.  Everyone, with a CURRENT or PAST association with our church is encouraged to attend this special Worship Service.

C. YOUTH INSTRUMENTALISTS

Youth instrumentals will also have the opportunity to play in this special Homecoming service–and are encouraged to participate.

Winning the Crown in November 2009

Metropolitan member MacKenzie Green was crowned this year’s  Miss DC USA 2010. She has published an article in the Jan/Feb 2010 edition of Popcorn Magazine about her journey to the crown asking “Is it the girl that makes the crown, or the crown that makes the girl?”

She provides timely advice for our youth and we are proud of her. Download the article to share.

MacKenzie was crowned Miss District of Columbia USA 2010 on November 29, 2009. She will be competing in the Miss USA pageant this month (April 2010).
