On Sunday, September 28, 2014, the Daniel Alexander Payne Community Development Corporation and Metropolitan AME will partner in one worship service at 10:15 am to observe the 50th Anniversary of the signing of the landmark Civil Rights Act of 1964. Heralded as one of the crowning legislative achievements of the civil rights movement, the legislation is worthy of wide-scale recognition and observance. Pastor William H. Lamar IV will deliver the message. We invite you to come and bring family and friends to worship with us as we commemorate this significant event in our Nation’s history.
Immediately following the service, a reception and a “Call to Action, Call to Serve”: Networking Reception and Information Fair, organized by the Young Adults, will be held in Douglass Hall. The local chapters of the National Urban League, NAACP, and American Bar Association have been invited to attend service and share information at the reception about voter education and registration, advocacy, and community service opportunities.
Church School will be held at 8:45 a.m. The Youth Activities Program will recap all of the wonderful activities our youth participated in this summer. Please arrive on time as the program will be filled with exciting summaries and performance about the Church School Convention, Youth Congress, Vacation Bible School, Talent Extravaganza and much more. Come out and show your support of our young people.
