It makes sense if you are trying to lose weight, but it’s also appropriate for those just wanting to be healthy. And “it” is mindful eating. Paying attention to EVERYTHING you put in your mouth. I’m not talking about counting grams or carbs or sugar. But the foods, snacks, nuts, gum even a tic-tac. All these calories/trans fats/simple sugars add up. And at the end of the day, that list could be pretty long.
Here are a few ways which may help:
- When eating, limit activity to… eating: Don’t talk on the phone or watch TV or drive your car. That will allow you to shove food in to your mouth and not know how much you’re eating.
- Eat in a quiet place: It’s easier to concentrate and pay attention to what you’re eating without the TV or radio.
- Use your NON-dominant hand: It’s harder to cut food and feed yourself using the hand with less dexterity. That will slow you down and is better for your digestion.
So the moral of the story is – “Think Before You Eat!”
EAT WHAT YOU LOVE, LOVE WHAT YOU EAT!!!
