Senior Minister Rev. Ronald E. Braxton will be the lead communicant at the Sacred Family Communion Services at 7:45am and ll am.
At 5 p.m., The Cathedral Choir of Metropolitan will ring out with George Frederic Handel’s “Messiah” in celebration of Metropolitan’s 175rd anniversary as the National Cathedral of African Methodism. The Choir will continue to incorporate the Metropolitan Arts Partners Program (MAPP) into its presentation of this classic of the Christmas season. In addition to awarding scholarships to college and high school students who participate in the “Messiah” presentation, the choir is expanding its outreach to become creators and developers of programs to serve our children.
“One initiative in development will reach our arms beyond our doors to extend the invitation to homeless and underserved youths who need a safe space to explore their musical and artistic aspirations,” said Gwendolyn Kimbrough, president and Dr. Lester S. Green, Jr., Director/Minister of Music of the Cathedral Choir. “Other innovative programs to support and inspire out youth through the arts are in stages of development.”
President Kimbrough and Director Green are seeking contributions to help the Choir inspire the next generation that will carry on the works of Metropolitan.
