GirlTrek is simply a grass roots movement to encourage black women and girls to get up and walk at least 30 minutes a day to promote healthy lifestyles.

Joining GirlTrek simply means making a personal commitment to walk at least 30 minutes a day at a heart pumping pace. You can also join group walks or organize your own.

Co-Founders Morgan Dixon and Vanessa Garrison are on a mission to rally one million black women and girls to join GirlTrek by 2018. Morgan is a member of DuPage AME in Lisle, IL.

There is no cost to join GirlTrek. You can sign up to be an official GirlTrek Trekker at Please list Metropolitan AME Church as your church group to get notifications and connect with other walkers at Metropolitan and in your neighborhood. Let’s invite the women, girls & friends of Metropolitan to walk with us!
